The voice of the body

Updated: Oct 9

On a gut level we have an instinctive pull toward what supports us and an instinctive withdrawal from what doesn’t. We have a built in navigation system that has a clear sense of direction toward our well being. Toward our contribution in life. Toward the reason we were born.

The gut feeling is a deep communication from the body itself. It’s an intuitive knowing — independent of the rational thinking mind. Learning to listen to that internal voice is a lifelong journey of trusting ones inner compass and acting upon it.

When we listen to and act upon our inner voice we become active participants in relationship with ourselves.

The challenge is trusting that voice over the noise of other opinions. The online world is a sea of endless information pointing in different directions. It can be overwhelming. Confusing. And contradictory at times. Tuning in to the endless opinions of the outside world takes us away from our own inner sense of yes and no.

There have been many points in my life where I felt disconnected from that inner voice of knowing. It’s a disorienting feeling of not hearing oneself. Like a boat at sea without a compass or knowledge of how to read the sky for direction.

The very foundation of that instinct begins with supporting the roots of our well being —- by providing our primal needs that represent internal safety. I’ve witnessed this a number of times in my own life. It's an internal voice of clarity that naturally arises when I prioritize the needs of my body.

I don’t know what your inner voice will guide you towards —- what your life of YES will be. I do know the journey begins with the most primal YES — which is real food —- clean water —- movement and rest.
